I have noticed a lot of you seem to like JBuilder as an IDE. Has anyone tried using Webgains/Visual Cafe with JBoss? I have used both in the past and our group is trying to decide which IDE to use. If you have had experience using Visual Cafe with JBoss I would be interested in hearing your option as to which IDE is preferable and why.

          Gary,

Not quite the question you were asking, but I've used JBuilder and Netbeans/Forte with JBoss, and definately prefer Netbeans/Forte. The key for me is Ant integration.

          My $0.02 worth.

          Cheers,
          Aaron.

hstech - I've been looking at JBuilder 5 and it seems to have an antRunner plugin. Isn't that going to give you the Ant build capability?

              Gary,

You got me. The other important issue was the price tag Borland attached to the upgrade to JBuilder 5, and the trend that this (and other pricing from Borland) suggested about future pricing policies.

We actually were a Borland shop. Now we only use Borland's Delphi product.

Of course, the fact that Forte is based on the open source Netbeans, and that so many people/organisations seem to be developing add-on modules for that environment, was also a big selling point.

              Cheers,
              Aaron.

Aaron - Thanks for your reply. We have been struggling with the price issue also and have considered Forte but we would have to use Forte EE which of course is not free. The other thing that I personally found hard to handle was the font size of the Forte application. Is there a way to change this from what looks like a font size of 5 to say a size of 8 to 10. I am a afraid I would go blind staring at Forte for five to eight hours a day.
