Can't attatch the core file while dump

Hi All,

Our environment is linux 32 with Jboss 4.2.1(JDK1.5.0_13) while generating the dump I'm getting following error.

[ /usr/java/jdk1.5.0_13/bin ]
websrvr@nopjreap > jmap -heap:format=b file=/tmp/heap.bin 21369
Attaching to core 21369 from executable file=/tmp/heap.bin, please wait...
Error attaching to core file: Can't attach to the core file

I would really apprciate if anyone can help on this

JMAP doesn't recognize the option file=/tmp/heap.bin so it thinks it is the PID.
Try

jmap -heap:format=b PID

you should find the output file heap.bin in your working directory.

-heap option is for live heap statistics.

use -dump option instead. For example:

jmap -dump:format=b,file=/tmp/heap.jprof 21369
