An invalid request "http:///" in RichFaces 3.3.3 when page is refreshed

Hi All,

We are facing a bizarre issue. Our application is built in JSF 1.2 and RichFaces 3.3.3 (final). We have observed that while refreshing a page on Windows 7 & IE 11; an invalid request (http:///) is also being fired. And IE takes few extra seconds in terminating this request and hence the customer is facing lag in this scenario.

1. Would it be possible in RichFaces 3.3.3 that IE does not fire this invalid request?

2. Other approach could be that if we can filter this invalid URL in IE 11.

Another part is that when we refresh this page in either chrome, Firefox or Windows 10 & IE 11; we cannot see this request in developer tools. So, the response time is very quick.

Facing this problem in production for quite sometime. Would really appreciate the fast response.

Can you see where the request comes from? It might be some incompatibility issue, bear in mind RF 3 is pretty old by now.

Hi Michal,

I thank you for the response. We have identified the component which is firing the invalid request. It's Prototype.js present in the RichFaces.

The following statement fires it:

document.write("<script id=__onDOMContentLoaded defer src=//:><\/script>");    

When we commented it; the problem disappears. Now, we are analyzing what should be the best approach to close it.
