deploy >> deployment jar not picked up

i just built jboss3.0-beta2, i threw my jar into server/deploy and jboss did not even register that it was present or deployed ? ie. it just stood still

any ideas anyone? my fault ? have things changed ? [again]

This is usually reported when the server didn't start.
e.g. It is hanging trying to make the database
connection.

Do you have a server started message?
