2. Re: jboss 3.0 rc1 and ear. How to??
tquas Apr 18, 2002 4:38 PM (in response to nickbuus)It doesn't seem to work correctly, though. At least I had problems when bundling my .ear with struts.jar and deploying it. I got JSP compilation errors until I copied struts.jar to the lib directory manually.

3. Re: jboss 3.0 rc1 and ear. How to??
davidjencks Apr 19, 2002 12:21 AM (in response to nickbuus)Did you provide manifest classpath entries pointing to the struts jar in the packages that need it? This is a new requirement in jboss, although it matches the specs.

4. Re: jboss 3.0 rc1 and ear. How to??
tquas Apr 22, 2002 1:57 AM (in response to nickbuus)Yes, I have the regular application.xml:
<display-name>Bogus</display-name>
Bogus Issue Tracker
bogus.jar
<web-uri>bogus-web.war</web-uri>
<context-root>/bogus</context-root>
a war without any extra manifest data; there's also *no* reference to the application jar file in this archive;
an application jar conting the EJBs and servlets with this manifest:
Manifest-Version: 1.0
Created-By: Ant 1.4.1
Class-Path: struts.jar
<empty line>
The layout of my ear looks like
bogus.ear/
bogus-web.war
bogus.jar
struts.jar

davidjencks Apr 22, 2002 9:33 AM (in response to nickbuus)This has been changing lately, I'm not sure of the exact status. Have you tried jboss 3.0 from cvs?

7. Re: jboss 3.0 rc1 and ear. How to??
tquas Apr 22, 2002 4:52 PM (in response to nickbuus)Sorry guys, either it's my incapability to configure my app correctly, or this bug has not been fixed.
Yes, I got the latest 3.0 from CVS; it's been a few seconds ago that I freshly compiled JBoss and installed it; started it, deployed my application... BOOM!
Copied struts.jar to jboss/lib; restarted... works beautifully.
What else can I do?

8. Re: jboss 3.0 rc1 and ear. How to??
craigday Apr 22, 2002 11:11 PM (in response to nickbuus)do you have struts.jar in the WEB-INF/lib directory of your
.war file? -
9. Re: jboss 3.0 rc1 and ear. How to??
tquas Apr 23, 2002 3:57 PM (in response to nickbuus)No. One of the advantages of not having it in the war is that I do not have to deploy struts.jar with every web application I'll have in the ear--and I'll have at least two of them. See also http://www.onjava.com/pub/a/onjava/2001/07/25/ejb.html for a discussion of this topic.

10. Re: jboss 3.0 rc1 and ear. How to??
tquas May 7, 2002 1:13 PM (in response to nickbuus)Hmm, no more opinions? Still got the same problem with 3.0RC3. I'm temporarily adjusting JBoss' classpath:
jboss-service.xml:
This is where all my JARs reside. Come on, guys, there has to be a better solution...
