Wildfly 16 incorrect working log zip rotator

Hello.

My logging profile configuration is:

1)

<periodic-size-rotating-file-handler name="FILE" rotate-on-boot="false" autoflush="true">

<level name="ALL"/>

<file relative-to="jboss.server.log.dir" path="corp.log"/>

<rotate-size value="300k"/>

<max-backup-index value="10000"/>

<suffix value=".yyyy-MM-dd.zip"/>

<append value="true"/>

</periodic-size-rotating-file-handler>

File corp.log increase it size permanently, even after new corp.log.yyyy-MM-dd.N.zip file created. Due it, each .zip archive contain same corp.log with maximum current size.

2)

All work as expected, except each time corp.log reach 300k, appear certain TWO SAME .zip files ?

For problem 1 you're saying that the file, corp.log, stays at 300k after rotation?

For problem 2 can you give an example of the file names?

1. File corp.log is 300k after first rotation and continue to grow it size further. Later the second rotation happens and next .zip contains 300k+ corp.log, and so on.

2. corp.log.2019-03-25.1.zip and corp.log.2019-03-25.2.zip files have same size and content. Further new pair of files (with same content) have appear with names corp.log.2019-03-25.3.zip and corp.log.2019-03-25.4.zip

Do you by chance have something monitoring the corp.log? Or is the file opened by another process for some other reason?

No, no one process known to me touches this file at runtime.

I just want to follow up on this. This is definitely a big and there have been fixes pushed for this. There is also a WildFly issue filed to upgrade the log manager.

We are also facing similar kind of issue and for the same I have posted the question in stackoverflow as below :

We are using wildfly-14 version in our case log rotation is happening but compression or zipping is not happening, could you please suggest some alternate solution for this.
