Help:charset for using the Chinese character

Dear all.
I'm deploying EJB 3.0 with jboss-4.0.3 and Mysql 4.0.
It's well when i test it by english words.
But when i test it by chinese words, there are unreadable characters like "?????" in the Mysql Database. (JBOSS Console displays the true characters)

Can I solve this problem through configuring mysql-ds.xml or persistence.xml?

Anythis will be very helpful for me.

Perhaps your tables are setup to use a different charset ?
What does your mysqldump say ?

Other options:
/etc/my.cnf:
[client]
default-character-set = utf8
default-collation=utf8_general_ci

Or server/*/deploy/*-ds.xml:
<connection-property name="characterEncoding"
>UTF-8</connection-property>

Have a look at your mysql docs incl. the mysql-jdbc driver notes ...

I changed mysql4.0 to MySql 4.1 and configured mysql-ds.xml, It's OK.
