Download of component-matrix 6.0.0.20100429-M3 artifact from public nexus repo fails

Our EJB3 hudson environment uses the public nexus repo settings.xml (as posted here http://community.jboss.org/message/541353#541353). Things had been working so far without issues. However, recently we have been seeing a failure when the IIOP module in the AS trunk is being built. During the build of that module, it requires org.jboss.jbossas:jboss-as-component-matrix:pom:6.0.0.20100429-M3 and tries to download it, but fails with the following error:

I browsed the public nexus repo and I can find the artifact there https://repository.jboss.org/nexus/content/groups/public/org/jboss/jbossas/jboss-as-component-matrix/6.0.0.20100429-M3/. So I don't know what's causing this.

Any easy way to reproduce this locally is to:

1) Remove the org/jboss/jbossas/jboss-as-component-matrix/6.0.0.20100429-M3 from your local maven repo

2) Use the public repo settings.xml (don't use the dev one)

3) Go to AS_Trunk/iiop

4) mvn clean install

You will see the same error as above.

P.S: I also have an exact similar issue with one other artifact of EJB3, but I'll leave that out from this thread to avoid confusion.

Created https://jira.jboss.org/browse/JBBUILD-621 since I don't see any workaround for this issue, which makes it impossible to build AS trunk for a non-developer or even on our Hudson environment (where we use the public repo).

Your logs only show Maven asking the old repo for the artifact, not the new Nexus repo. Either the pom needs to be updated with the new url, or you should add it as a repo in your settings.xml.

It's just Maven isn't asking for it in the proper url that I can see.

I believe this is due to some issues related to dependency resolution when using the "import" scope.

So it's not looking in the correct repositories (the ones defined in settings.xml). This is already fixed in Maven 3, but due to some conflicts with the antrun plugin and Ant tasks ( MANTRUN-123 ), the AS build cannot use Maven 3 yet. I'm currently working on a new release of the maven-antrun-plugin that will allow the AS build to use Maven 3.

I'm also not sure why the build would require this version of the component-matrix. It seems like a circular dependency got into the build because it should be using the local component-matrix pom.

I tracked this down the the jbossts dependency that was recently updated. Its POM includes an "import" scope dependency on component-matrix, so that's where the request is coming from.

There is also another Maven issue related to dependency resolution when using the import scope which is also working correctly in Maven 3.

Building https://svn.jboss.org/repos/labs/labs/jbosstm/tags/JBOSSTS_4_11_0_Final works as a work-around.
It uses the repositories defined in ${user.home}/m2/settings.xml to download the artifacts.
Which is actually the problem: JBTM-743.
