How to add RichFaces 4.0.0.M1 to my project?

    Florian Hesla Newbie

      Hey all,

i have a JSF 2.0 Netbeans project and want to add the new RichFaces  4.0.0.M1 libs to it.

But i'm doing this the first time and i dunno which libraries i should  add:

In the folder "artifacts" are two folders:
      - framework
      - ui

And they both have six jar-datas, RF-impl, -api and -ui with a  ...-sources each.

Do i also have to add these -sources datas? And what should i take, the  files from the framework or ui folder?

Thanks for help, i am really new on this and didn't found this  information in the docs.

the framework folder contains core jar's of framework, and ui library contains components jars which build on top of the framework. So you should add jar's from both ones. Sources jar's not needed for sure to use RF in application but could be helpfull on debug fro example.

            Thank you,

but can you also give me the right settings for the web.xml file?

I'm actually searching for a little Wiki for Richfaces 4.

I only found the RichFaces installing and configuration wiki for RF 3.3.3, but none for 4.0:

            http://community.jboss.org/wiki/RichFacesinstallingandconfiguration

              Florian,

By default, only skin should be set in web.xml:

                <context-param>
                  <param-name>org.richfaces.SKIN</param-name>
                  <param-value>blueSky</param-value>
                </context-param>

Also we are working on making this setting optional.

That is because of missing google guava dependency. Please add it.

Hmm  now i can deploy the project, but there are no a4j: -tags available and only a few rich: -tags...? Normally the RF4-libraries i'm using should be enough, shouldn't they?

And thanks for the tip with google guava, i added the libs.

Hmm, i also added the new libraries but i'm still getting the error that the component librarie doesn't contains such component like "rich:simpleTooglePanel"... :-/

And tags like "a4j" are also still unknown.

                          Ilya Shaikovsky Master

as about simpleTogglePanel - it's really not present there and will be availaeble under other name. In order to check components list available in M1 - check readme-ui.txt from distr.

And about a4j tags - please show the namespace you using and tags trying to add.

                            Hi Raminder,

commons-* libraries are not used in 4.0, so they can be removed unless code in your application requires them.

                            • 12. Re: How to add RichFaces 4.0.0.M1 to my project?
                              Florian Hesla Newbie

So, does that mean that there is no simpleTogglePanel available at the moment? I though of the togglePanel, but it seems to have another functionality right? So i would have to still use RF 3.3.3 if i wanna use the simpleTogglePanel-functionality?

                              • 13. Re: How to add RichFaces 4.0.0.M1 to my project?
                                Ilya Shaikovsky Master

for now you could really easilly implement that using togglePanel and panel components. (actually simpleTogglePanel in the past was implemented to show simplest usage of tp component )

And collapsoble panel will be available for next milestone I believe.

                                  Florian Hesla Newbie

                                  Good news:

The application is working, although still giving me some errors:

                                  - the simplePanel is very important at the moment, when do you think will the next milestone be released?

                                  - all my h:commandLink's aren't working anymore, is that normal? commandButtons work without problems! about google i could find that there were any changes done at the commandlink. the same with a4j:commandLink...

And not to forget, thanks for your help until now, i think i'm really still very new on this, especially now with RF 4.
