Teiid Designer only provides "Teiid Designer" perspective. However, for execution of the VDB it also utilizes "Database Development" (DTP) perspective too.
Before you can deploy the VDB, you need to install Teiid Server did you that? Once you installed it, then you need to make connection from Designer to the installed Server. Then you will be able to deploy the VDB.
Thanks a lot for your reply. I just came across a note which stated that SQL explorer has been removed from Teiid designer installation post 5.X release.
I have been using MetaMatrix a while now so kinda confused because of that.
I am currently installing JBOSS server to deploy the Teiid applocation to it.
Just a curious question, we face some real performance issues (with respect to push down indexing / materializing the views) when using MMX, do you think Teiid would perform better than MetaMatrix in these scenarios?
Is it possible to push down a query based on a particular connector (by mentioning it in query) using Teiid?
No problem at all. As current MMX user, we would absolutely love to hear what you like and do not like from previous incarnation. We have taken many suggestions from people like you and made this version lot more simpler and better. Yes, there are many changes in Designer and Teiid Server, so I suggest take simple example from your previous usecase and try to implement in Teiid. Check out our docs, if you get struck please ask us.
All I can say now is, Teiid's pushdown functionality is lot more better and comprehensive than MMX, and simplified materialize views. Teiid has memory based and DBMS based materialized views, however the process has changed as to how you go about it. Check out Caching Document on it. I say give it try let us know what you like or dislike and if you see issues log a JIRA and we will try to resolve them promptly.
