    Migration from AS 5.1.0: Library-Jar-Deployment

    Michael Brinkmann Newbie

      Hello,

      we have a big JEE-application with about 40 ear- and war-files to be deployed. Besides this, we have some 80 jar-files which are commonly used by the ears and wars, which we do not want to bundle again and again in each war and jar.

      Currently, with JBoss 5.1.0, we simply put the jars into the lib-folder.

      What is the "least-effort" way to put these 80 jar-files into JBoss AS 7?

      (Yes, I have read about the "modules-way", but it seems that significant effort comes up here compared to JBoss 5.1.0).

      Kind regards

      Michael

            The module way seems right. Why not use it?

              Sorry, but i understand module way, when i can find documentation about this? I have 50 jars-files. I think with a copy/paste jars-files will can resolve it

                  Same problem Michael.

                  This added some complexity to the simple task of adding libraries to the classpath.

                  Can't I simple drop the libs in some folder without declare them?

                  And what about the standalone/lib and domain/lib folders? What for?

                    I'm also tried this but not work, i can't lost my time with configure a lot of modules.I think migrate to JBoss AS 7 would be easy but no.

                      I would suggest to create e.g. one module with all your jar-files and set it up as global module in your standalone.xml.

                      (See https://docs.jboss.org/author/display/AS7/Class+Loading+in+AS7#ClassLoadinginAS7-GlobalModules )

                      Regards,

                      Gonne

                            You have to add your module to the <extensions> section.

                            <extensions>

                            ...

                                <extension module="itil.librerias"/>

                            </extensions>

                                Sorry, you do not need the extension entry (remove it please).

                                The namespace you have used for the global modules definition is wrong:

                                <subsystem xmlns="urn:jboss:domain:ee:1.0" >

                                  <global-modules>

                                      <module name="itil.librerias" slot="main" />

                                  </global-modules>

                                </subsystem>
