I've entered this as HHH-3647 already but thought I'd also mention it here, under current trunk envers is somewhat dead as a dodo when trying to write records, I get the following stacktrace:

org.hibernate.HibernateException: instance not of expected entity type: java.util.HashMap is not a: smx3.schema3.Party_versions
       at org.hibernate.persister.entity.AbstractEntityPersister.getSubclassEntityPersister(AbstractEntityPersister.java:3663)

Has anyone seen this behaviour before? Where the entity is a HashMap? Maybe I've missed a configuration setting thats tripping things up?
