> I have been doing number of the proof of concepts with teiid embedded for my data virtualization needs in recent times and its looks cool to me.
> Are there any plans in future to release a major release for teiid embedded which is not termed as tech preview and is a
stable version where API's are stable and are not changing drastically and is also supported by the community.
There are a couple of distinctions to make. The first is that we do in any event attempt to make the api stable and allow them to evolve rather than to just remove old methods. That is mostly what has been happening with embedded as we've added more deployment and configuration options. Most breaking changes even with tech preview code will happen across major version changes.
Next is that even as a tech preview the community will support the usage of embedded - work issues, answer posts, etc. The designation is more to set expectations for maturity, the available documentation, and that features are evolving. Calling it a tech preview also means that it's not yet intended for consumption by the productized Teiid - http://www.ossmentor.com/2013/10/jboss-data-virtualization-beta-v6-is.html
As usage picks up and especially if there is product related interest you can expect that we'll work to remove the tech preview designation.
