Hi guys,
i'm trying to install forge eclipse plugin from update site:
http://download.jboss.org/jbosstools/builds/staging/jbosstools-forge_master/all/repo/
but eclipse cannot find a dependency on core plugin
"requires 'bundle org.jboss.tools.usage 0.0.0' but it could not be found",
i've attached a screenshot.
I've just installed eclipse kepler and tried to install forge via update

have conflicts with forge2
i am on ubuntu 12 with jdk7, any hints?
thanks in advance

gastaldi Jun 17, 2014 9:17 AM (in response to icaro56)Hi,
First you need to install the JBoss Usage feature in the http://download.jboss.org/jbosstools/updates/development/luna/ update site. I think Forge 2 should be listed there as well. We probably need to update the README in the docs.
Best Regards,
George Gastaldi

Thanks very much. I'm sorry by my english. I stay two months trying to install this. Please, update the documentation.
Is there any way to upgrade project from forge 1 to forge 2?
PS: I update the plugins and dependencies on menu Help->Check for Updates and all works very well.

site for those wanting latest/greatest ? it will have the right/current
target platform linked in as opposed to forge on its own which will just
declare what it would like to get...?

icaro56 Aug 1, 2014 8:02 AM (in response to gastaldi)Good morning,
I frequently update my forge 2 by "check for updates" in eclipse. Today when I try to do the update happens:

10. Re: [forge-dev] Forge2 eclipse plugin
gerry.matte Aug 16, 2014 7:34 PM (in response to gastaldi)I was quite surprised to hear that the forge team has chosen not to support eclipse kepler.
There are probably other java developers like me who do not automatically change their tools to the latest version just because a new version has come out.
Does the forge team choose to only work for the "Early Adopters" ?
I have been trying for months to get Forge 2 working with the command line version - and I'm simply unable to generate entities from my MySQL database. I guess that's why there are no examples of the jpa-generate-entities-from-tables command ...... it just does not work.
I posted my problem on the forge forum but I and Ondrej Zizka seem to be the only developers even trying to use forge within the last month.
Forcing developers to change to a new eclipse is a good way to drive them away from using your tool. I've been a real fan of Forge for years but I'm at the end of my patience with forge 2.

11. Re: [forge-dev] Forge2 eclipse plugin
gastaldi Aug 18, 2014 1:21 AM (in response to gerry.matte)Hi Gerry,
Using Eclipse Luna is a requirement from the JBoss Tools team for the latest version, and given that the plugin is part of Jboss Tools, it was not our decision. I may be wrong, but I believe that the plugin may still work with Kepler (I am not aware of any Luna-specific feature in the plugin anyway).
Second, no, you and Ondrej are not the only developers using Forge. I haven't received the notifications in the forum for ages, probably due to some issue with our infrastructure. We're working hard on fixing issues and making it more stable, however there are too much work to be done and they are being prioritized as the team believe it should. I'll review them during the week and answer them accordingly.
Please meet us on #forge during the week and we'll be more than happy to help you with your issues.
Sincerely,
George Gastaldi

12. Re: [forge-dev] Forge2 eclipse plugin
gerry.matte Aug 17, 2014 12:11 PM (in response to gastaldi)Now I am confused.
Your June 12 post (above) states that you no longer support kepler.
I have Forge Tools 1.2.1 installed in my kepler but when I select the forge console view, there are no controls to start forge.......

gastaldi Aug 18, 2014 1:22 AM (in response to gerry.matte)Sorry, updated my response. I made a confusion with the version names
-
14. Re: [forge-dev] Forge2 eclipse plugin
maxandersen Aug 18, 2014 12:52 PM (in response to gerry.matte)sorry to hear you feel you cannot use Eclipse Luna.
I just want to say that we don't do this fast moving for any light reasons.
We do it because supporting multiple branches of Eclipse is extremely resource intensive but luckily Eclipse is fairly stable.
If we chose to support Kepler we would not be able to work well in Luna.
And please do realize eclipse luna comes with massive improvements for the Maven support - something most Forge users will
benefit from.
Also if you are using the latest greatest of Forge, why not latest greatest of Eclipse ? Interested in hearing what issues you have with upgrading to Luna that is btw. GA for months now
