[Kie Workbench] 'Build & deploy' a JAVA 1.7 project

Hi guys,

Is it possible to specify another Java compiler version when building and deploying a project directly from the Kie Workbench?

From what I understand, it seems that the Kie Workbench compiler version is 1.5 (because I get the same errors when I pass my Java project to 1.5)

I still can't build and deploy even when I'm specifying the desired source version inside the pom.xml of the project.

So I ended up making my project Java 1.5 compliant, but just to confirm, was it the only solution?

that should not be the case - by default it should use the java version that it runs on. Do you mind creating a jira with project that requires java 1.7 so it can be verified?

Take a look at https://github.com/droolsjbpm/drools/blob/master/drools-compiler/src/main/java/org/drools/compiler/kie/builder/impl/KieBuilderImpl.java#L581

Both source code and target platform versions are fixed to 1.5. It doesn't matter what Java version you run or what's declared in project's POM.

What's even more interesting, org.eclipse.jdt.core.compiler.compliance parameter is not set at all, even to a constant version, so ecj adheres to it's default compliance level, which is 1.4!

When you discover all this the strange compilation errors suddenly become obvious...

alright, this has been now fixed to use configurable compiler and language level
