Support for alternate Query Engines in translator-solr?

Hi,

Is there any support for alternate query engines in the translator-solr, or will I have to write my own translator? We have a situation where we need to run queries using the edismax query engine instead of the standard solr query engine.

Are you just running the same style of queries produced by the standard translator or do you need to utilize the extended query features? If it's the latter, then a custom translator could be used - or possibly to use just rest/http access.
