The title of this topic steals the focus from the real question

Please advice if a JDK or a JRE is recommended for Wildfly.
You don't need a JDK to run WildFly 10. You can just use a JRE.
I realized my topic heading is confusing. Thanks for correcting.
When I look int o EAP 7 or 6 supported configuration, it always recommend to use a JDK instead of JRE.
So dont you think running a application server with a JRE is a bad idea.?
You can use JDK or JRE, its upto you. But JDK provides some additional tools like jstack,jconsole,jmap,jvisualvm,..etc which are not shipped with JRE. These tools are helpful for monitoring/troubleshooting purposes. Because of that normally its recommended to use JDK.
