do you use Win2000?
a colleague of me has the same problem with the Orion Appserver on Win2000.
There was some discussion about this a while ago. The problem occurs sometimes under Windows 2000 when you stop, and then restart the server.
It goes away when you leave your Windows alone for half an hour ;) (or if you reboot your machine)
I think it has something to do with the flawed socket handling by Windows, but am not sure and I don't know whether there will be a work-around for this in the upcoming JBoss release.
I using windowns 2000 professional. this problem occure even if i do not restart jboss. for instance, i deploy an entity , run my client , the server response. after a while , i run the same client again, the server does not response and the client just waiting there. after i press ctrl c ,the server response correctly and ther client finished successfully.
oh, does the jboss server fall to sleep so that i have to wake it?
I have seen the same thing, but I didn't have to press Crtl-C ... I just had to klick in the console-window and press any key to get JBoss working again ... (Win 2000 Pro)
i did not try to press other key.maybe you are right?
did you try on other platform like linux?
No, but I didn't bother because I thought It was just a display bug. ;}
i never encountered this kind of problem on other platforms than windows. a windows console stops scrolling when you select text via the mouse. this can happen without noticing just by clicking into the window. scroll-lock also pauses the program. just hit space or any other key and jboss should resume working.
I had the same problem a few weeks ago and i was installing lotus notes at that time ,the notes server console window hangs unless you press the enter.
the notes service site said this is a win2k bug and the mothed to solve the problem is
Edit the console window property and uncheck the "quick edit mode" and "insert mode"
