PressGang provides documentation and documentation services and infrastructure to other JBoss projects.
We produce and maintain the PressGang Documentation Guide, a style and technical reference for JBoss developers and documentation writers. The guide contains an exhaustive list of XML elements with guidelines for consistent usage; it explains how to achieve documentation compatibility with both Publican and jDocBook, which opens to the door to localization contributions; and it specifies grammar guidelines that will improve the readability of your documentation.
We create communities for documentation formats, and toolchains the JBoss Community are actively using. The aim of these communities is to focus the JBoss Community in pursuing new documentation formats that make community contribution easier.
Zanata is the other side to PressGang. With Zanata you can enable community-based translations for your user documentation. Translators don't need to install any special packages or programs; just log onto Zanata using your JBoss.org account, join a Language Team, introduce yourself to the translation community to get translation permissions, and you are ready to start contributing.
The best place to start is in the Discussions tab on this page. Discussions are grouped using Categories and Tags to make finding information relevant to your area of interest.
We're in a numer of freenode.org IRC chat rooms:
We are in the room during normal Brisbane (Australia) office hours (GMT +10.00), although some of us might be there after hours.
If you want to chat about all things documentation or translation, then come join the conversation.
