JBoss 4.2.1 GA Remote Access

Hi

We are moving to 4.2.1 GA and are having issues setting tomcat so that clients can access the server remotley.

I have tried to set

valve className="org.apache.catalina.valves.RemoteAddrValve" allow="192.168.*.*" deny="" /> (If I put a < before valve it doesn't show)

under my section in the server.xml file in the jboss-web.deployer module but all that happens then is blank pages come up, not even the default jboss page.

All the documentation I can find still refer to the jbossweb-tomcat55.sar module which is not there anymore.

I am problably just being stupid but any help or a pointer to up to date documentation will be greatly appreciated.

At least I can start the server with the -b 0.0.0.0 flag in the mean time.

That's the way to do it, using the -b parameter.

The problem with the -b flag is server wide, we have 2 web apps running on one instance at the moment and want to allow only a certain ip range to access the one web app whereas the other one needs to allow all.

You can provide only a single IP address with the -b option (with 0.0.0.0 having the special mean of any address). This is a limitation of the socket library that underlies the Java network layer, and thus is not fixable in either JBoss AS nor in Java itself. Unfortunately no good workarounds exist.

I can find lots of documentation on how to do this in previous versions of JBoss AS when Apache was still a separate module, but nothing for the new one. I'm sure it must be possible
