1. Re: Problem creating two intances on the same machine
jerrygauth Jun 26, 2006 9:34 AM (in response to adik)Are you actually using the "default" server? If so, your cluster instances need to be copies of the "all" server.

2. Re: Problem creating two intances on the same machine
adik Jul 11, 2006 4:10 AM (in response to adik)Jerry hi,
thanks for answering and sorry for the late desponse
but when I installed Jboss I chose the "all" option which give me only "default" instance (probably with the all configuration)
any idea?
I read the document and I don't know what to do,
I have the same problem with other instances (not on the same machine) what can blobk them from seeing each other.
as far as I understand I don't need to do any configuration they will work by default they are working in the default partition -
3. Re: Problem creating two intances on the same machine
jerrygauth Jul 12, 2006 1:50 PM (in response to adik)I'm not familiar with the installer so I don't know what servers it makes available or what its advantages are. If you download the binary distribution and unzip/tar it, you should end up with three server instances named "minimal", "default" and "all". Create new server directories (e.g., node1, node2) in the jboss/server directory and then copy the contents of the all server to each directory. Then start each server using commands similar to the following.
run.bat -c node1 -b 192.168.3.179
run.bat -c node2 -b 192.168.3.180 -

5. Re: Problem creating two intances on the same machine
roberto Jul 13, 2006 11:01 AM (in response to adik)Have you remember to change lookback to true ?
On Windows machines, because of the media sense feature being broken with multicast (even after disabling media sense) set the loopback attribute to true in the cluster-service.xml
and tc5-cluster-service.xml -
6. Re: Problem creating two intances on the same machine
ben.wang Jul 13, 2006 10:19 PM (in response to adik)The best way is to start from the Wiki jgroups layer troubleshooting to make sure mcast is working properly first.

7. Re: Problem creating two intances on the same machine
adik Jul 16, 2006 8:07 AM (in response to adik)I tried both suggestions, and unfortuanly stillhave the problem
I change to "true" the UDP loopback option on
cluster-service.xml and on
deploy\tc5-cluster.sar\META-INF\jboss-service.xml
I also tried the second advice and in the jgroup drow test I open two drawing instances and they are able see each other.
will happy to here more suggestions
Thanks -
8. Re: Problem creating two intances on the same machine
roberto Jul 18, 2006 7:51 AM (in response to adik)You can try to use only network adapter.
And to avoid conflit with ports you can use Binding Manager (get a look at http://wiki.jboss.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=ConfiguringMultipleJBossInstancesOnOneMachine)
and so avoid use of -b -
9. Re: Problem creating two intances on the same machine
roberto Jul 18, 2006 7:55 AM (in response to adik)I forgot...
Another tips from JGroup in this case is to disable "media Sensing" feature of tcpip
