1. Re: RF 3.2.0. Snapshot problem
ilya_shaikovsky Nov 13, 2007 5:57 AM (in response to tjakopec)Pay attention that 3.2.0 version is only supports 1.2 JSF implementation.

2. Re: RF 3.2.0. Snapshot problem
fmarwede Nov 13, 2007 7:51 AM (in response to tjakopec)Another question concerning this topic.
Currently we use Richfaces 3.1.3, Myfaces 1.1.5 and Tomahawk 1.1.6 with facelets.
When we migrate to Richfaces 3.2.0, we'll have to take Myfaces 1.2, right? -

4. Re: RF 3.2.0. Snapshot problem
tjakopec Nov 13, 2007 8:02 AM (in response to tjakopec)I am very confused! What is preferred workspace for RF 3.2.0? Could you give manual for set up RF 3.2.0 or what to do for upgrade from RF 3.1.3?
TNX! -
5. Re: RF 3.2.0. Snapshot problem
ilya_shaikovsky Nov 13, 2007 8:13 AM (in response to tjakopec)The only limitation is 1.2 specification implementations of JSF usage. Nothing changed more.

6. Re: RF 3.2.0. Snapshot problem
fmarwede Nov 13, 2007 8:13 AM (in response to tjakopec)Sorry, I think it is my fault, that you are confused.
When you wanna use only Richfaces, it is very easy. Beside the three jars of RF from the version you want, you need a JSF implementation, for example the one from Sun (see http://java.sun.com/javaee/javaserverfaces/download.html)
And now ilya said: For RF 3.2.0 you need JSF 1.2 implementation.
Only when you wanna use other libraries to (like Tomahawk, MyFaces), than you have to think about further dependencies, further jar files from apache and so on.
But you are right: It would be cool to set up a list with different configurations for different rich faces versions. And how to get it work with different popular other libraries. For me it's often a mystery why a combination of Jars works and another one not. -
7. Re: RF 3.2.0. Snapshot problem
ilya_shaikovsky Nov 13, 2007 8:40 AM (in response to tjakopec)hm.. As you told - Rich Faces is just additional framework which expands JSF functionality.
So if you use MyFaces - the best way to check out its requirements for 1.2 - is to check apache.org resources.
Rich faces itself isn't reqire anything special additionally to the settings which is required by JSF implementations. -
8. Re: RF 3.2.0. Snapshot problem
tjakopec Nov 13, 2007 8:50 AM (in response to tjakopec)I downloaded jsf-1_2_05 from sun's pages and put jsf-api and jsf-impl in $JBOSS\server\default\deploy\jboss-web.deployer\jsf-libs
we work with tomahawk 1.1.6. Now in our WEB-INF/lib directory (in ear) we have tomahawk-1.1.6.jar, richfaces-impl-3.2.0-SNAPSHOT.jar, richfaces-api-3.2.0-SNAPSHOT.jar, richfaces-ui-3.2.0-SNAPSHOT.jar
And still the same problem as in my first post.
Now, I believe in tomahawk is also jsf implementation (and is 1.1).
Question is how to combine tomahawk-1.1.6.jar (its latest) and RF 3.2.0?
I read from tomahawk's page
MyFaces provides a series of JSF components that go beyond the JSF specification. These components are 100% compatible with the Sun JSF 1.1 Reference Implementation (RI) or any other JSF 1.1 compatible implementation. Of course the custom components can also be used with the Apache MyFaces JSF implementation.
Should I wait for tomahawk that supports 1.2 or there is workaround? -
9. Re: RF 3.2.0. Snapshot problem
ilya_shaikovsky Nov 13, 2007 8:56 AM (in response to tjakopec)no tomahawk compatible with 1.2 implementation. It isn't jsf implementation but components library. Could you share your simple example with me directly. I'll answer in thread after check it

I put on our public server,
JBOSS 4.2.0 GA
Tomahawk 1.1.6
RF 3.2.0

login: java
pass: java
go to program operators (first in list) -
11. Re: RF 3.2.0. Snapshot problem
fmarwede Nov 13, 2007 9:25 AM (in response to tjakopec)I tried the following and it works for our current application:
Richfaces 3.2.0 (latest snapshot)
Tomahawk 1.1.6
MyFaces 1.2.0
(incl. a bundle of apache common jars)
Wanna now the exact file list? -
