1. Re: JBoss Eclipse IDE, Eclipse 3.1 and upcoming WTP versions
garu Jul 21, 2005 11:59 AM (in response to maxandersen)Max, i guess you mean WTP 0.7M5, since M4 is rather buggy and does not work with 3.1 final.
I recently saw you were working on M5 compatibilty and you opened an eclipse bug for this (https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=102688), and i read somewhere in the forums (or perhaps jira?) that the relase was delayed to wait for WTP M5, so i suppose M4 is a typo...

maxandersen Jul 21, 2005 12:44 PM (in response to maxandersen)No, i mean 0.7M4 for this release - but no need to download/add the complete WTP as we include the dependencies.

mikek753 Jul 29, 2005 4:58 PM (in response to maxandersen)does it mean that JSP Editor and JSP compilation isn't part of JBoss-IDE?
And any JSP related issues should go to WTP?
thanks. -
4. Re: JBoss Eclipse IDE, Eclipse 3.1 and upcoming WTP versions
mikek753 Aug 4, 2005 4:07 PM (in response to maxandersen)WTP 0.7 was released
it comes as _0.7.0, where 0.7Mx came as 1.0.0 and before upgrade / unpack 0.7 all prev. 0.7Mx has to be removed manualy.
Where I should look for JSP compilation support?
Looks like WTP doesn't come with jsp builder.
Where I may find that jsp builder? which is missing in 1.5M2
thanks. -

zorzella Sep 10, 2005 12:44 PM (in response to maxandersen)Is there any particular reason why the automatic update site still does not have m2? It's been realeased almost 2 months ago, and I wonder if someone just forgot to publish it...

haller Sep 12, 2005 5:10 PM (in response to maxandersen)I tried to install Eclipse 3.1 manually with 1.5M2 and WTP 0.7 to
support Lepido.
In case of conflicts I selected the newer jar. The outcome: WTP isn't able to
open a Web-Project.
Is there a way to get it running?
Thanks

7. Re: JBoss Eclipse IDE, Eclipse 3.1 and upcoming WTP versions
geoffpowdrell Oct 21, 2005 5:43 AM (in response to maxandersen)I have just installed Eclipse 3.1.1, and via the Help/Software Updates option in Eclipse have installed the latest JBossIDE (4.0.3).
As a result of installing JBossIDE 4.03 I have the JBoss options when creating a new project. Under this JBoss root node there is an option to create either a 1.3 or 1.4 project. When I choose either of these optionsew J2EE 1.3 or 1.4 project the wizard gives an error relating to data types.
I have the 1.5 jdk installed. Do I have an incompatibility issue here ?
Any help welcome
Thanks Geoff -
8. Re: JBoss Eclipse IDE, Eclipse 3.1 and upcoming WTP versions
sdeng Oct 24, 2005 5:22 PM (in response to maxandersen)I downloaded the JBoss IDE 1.5 RC1 and am trying to configure the JBoss AppServer within the eclipse 3.1.1.
But unlike in previous JBoss IDE plug-in, I cannot configure the JBoss AS in the preferences:
Window | Preferences | JBoss-IDE --> Deployer
The following information is mentioned in a website with URL:https://sourceforge.net/project/shownotes.php?release_id=
357889
JBossIDE Core (1.5 Milestone 3)
---
- Our custom XML, JSP, and HTML editors have all been removed in favor of the highly mature and supported editors from the
Eclipse Webtools project. We plan on also replacing our JBoss AS support with a webtools adapter in 1.5 RC1.
It looks like that the JBoss AS plug-in could be changed to Eclipse WTP in JBoss IDE 1.5 RC1. Shall we install any WTP to
configue JBoss AS in Eclipse 3.1.1? Any suggestion is welcome.
Thanks. -
9. Re: JBoss Eclipse IDE, Eclipse 3.1 and upcoming WTP versions
ploskikl Dec 5, 2005 12:46 PM (in response to maxandersen)The Eclipse Web Tools Project (WTP) plug-in does not provide a server definition element for current JBoss release levels, such as JBoss 4.0.2 or JBoss 4.0.3 SP1.
Gorkem Ercan's blog (at http://www.jroller.com/page/gercan) contains an entry dated October 26, 2005 that says "...you will be able to install your server adapter using the eclipse update...".
Does JBoss plan to provide server definitions elements for current (and future) JBoss releases that can be downloaded using the Eclipse update manager?
For everyone's convenience, here is the full text of Gorkem's blog entry:
"You no longer have to ship your full implementation of your server plug-in with WTP. There is the new installableServer extension point in org.eclipse.wst.server.core that you can utilize. When this extension point is listed there will be a "Is your server not listed" link on the server creation wizards. Following this link you will be able to install your server adapter using the eclipse update. The first candidate that will likely to implement this is the Geronimo adapters that are hosted in Apache now. If you are interest you may look at the bug report for details."
Here is a link to the bug report:
Bugzilla Bug 110453 - List downloadable Servers Adapters.

Thanks in advance for any information anyone may be able to provide on this topic.

dhartford Jan 18, 2006 5:09 PM (in response to maxandersen)With Jboss-IDE 1.5 final, I am unable to use the Eclipse ORM/Dali project - http://www.eclipse.org/dali/ . In my other regular eclipse/wtp installs, this works fine.

maxandersen Jan 18, 2006 5:11 PM (in response to maxandersen)what does that mean ? "unable to use" ? What goes wrong ?
could it be that the dali project is not using the latest wtp ? -
12. Re: JBoss Eclipse IDE, Eclipse 3.1 and upcoming WTP versions
js8523 Jan 25, 2006 3:36 PM (in response to maxandersen)Hi
You need to have Jboss IDE 1.5, the wtp-1.0.zip (including jst), make sure that you GEF and all the other pre-requisistes of wtp, then run eclipse.exe -clean.
It does not work by just adding Dali to the JBoss IDE 1.5 becuase I don't believe they include all the required libraries in there download.
Hope this helps,

i'm also interested in weather JBoss will support a JBoss app server definition for eclipse wtp. i have eclipse wtp 1.0, and have been unable as of yet to get anything working for jboss 4.0 outside of being able to start/stop a server using the projst plugin. i cannot seem to "publish" a web module to a server. -

js8523 Feb 7, 2006 3:26 PM (in response to maxandersen)Hi
Use the server defintion jar from the below url
http://www.informatik.fh-wiesbaden.de/~knauf/public/
Just put it in your plugin directory, then restart and you should see a new server definition which will allow you to perform all the normal wtp operations.
HTH,
James
