jujuz Aug 24, 2007 4:59 AM (in response to haiwu.us)you have to launch JBoss with -b option
./run.sh -b 192.168.1.45
./run.sh -b foo.com
or on Windows
run.bat -b 192.168.1.45
run.bat -b foo.com -
2. Re: jboss portal listening only on localhost 8080
haiwu.us Aug 27, 2007 2:00 PM (in response to haiwu.us)Thanks. Now I could access the jboss portal site via hostname rather than localhost. But every time after clicking "News" or "Weather" portlet, the whole system just hang up forever in the current browser session.
This server is in Intranet, behind firewall. I tried to add proxy information to JAVA_OPTS in run.conf file as suggested here at http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&t=90923, but still things are failing.
Is there any other tricks for this? -

antoine_h Aug 28, 2007 7:46 AM (in response to haiwu.us)I would look at the "Weather" portlet and how it works :
- in the preferences : is there any configuration for proxy
- in the code : see if there is a proxy capability (ie how it call the distant service)
if you add it, you can contribute by providing the new code... -
4. Re: jboss portal listening only on localhost 8080
theute Aug 28, 2007 9:03 AM (in response to haiwu.us)proxy should be defined at the machine level, certainly not per portlet.
Setting up http.proxyHost and http.proxyPort should be enough.
-Dhttp.proxyHost=<Proxy Host> -Dhttp.proxyPort=<Proxy Port> -

hxwu Aug 28, 2007 11:37 AM (in response to haiwu.us)Thanks! I just got it. It turns out that proxy option was never being used, because I put it under this line "if [ "x$JAVA_OPTS" = "x" ]; then", which is not right.
It should be a new line in run.conf file, which should look like follows:
JAVA_OPTS="$JAVA_OPTS -Dhttp.proxyHost=... -Dhttp.proxyPort=..."
Thanks,

you have to launch JBoss with -b option
./run.sh -b 192.168.1.45
./run.sh -b foo.com
or on Windows
run.bat -b 192.168.1.45
run.bat -b foo.com
This works. There must be a better way to set this though using a conf file. -

jdaanial Dec 30, 2008 8:01 AM (in response to haiwu.us)You can run smoething like this if you want to open the Portal to all the host in the network segment:
In windows Machines:
run.bat -b 0.0.0.0
In Unix/Linux Machines:
run.sh -b 0.0.0.0
