While we will still work hard on improving JBoss Seam code base (better support of AJAX and portlets are on the list), i would like us to focus more on other areas like tools and documentation.

Ideally we would have:
- A Seam IDE (part of JBoss Eclipse IDE)
We already have:
+ a GUI to design page flows thanks to Koen
+ a GUI to generate a whole webapp from a database or EJB3 annotated Pojos thanks to Max
+ a minimalistic barebone to create a new Seam project (including the libs, a build script...) that needs lot of work to be usable. I would like to have a wizard to include the test environment (embedded EJB3 + microcontainer + correct build)
There is room for improvement on those 3 components.

- Reference documentation. it is already covering most of the topics if not all
- Some tutorials, there is one part of the reference documentation, but it could be enhanced
- More videos, we have 2 so far and one is about to be released to show how to use the "Seam webapp generator tool".
- Some "best practice" explanations, this is lacking so far
- Books

I would like to use this thread to collect your feelings of what is lacking so far in terms of tools and documentation (please note that it is not our intention to replace any EJB3, JSF or jBPM documentation)

If any of you are interested in contributing on those, you are also welcome.
Finally if you have experience or want to explain cool things you managed to do please let us know too.

What do I need to get to set up these tools. The current release of JBossIDE has the the app generation but I don't see the page flow designer or the SeamIDE. I looked in CVS also (JBossIDE) and I didn't see these either. Are they in a different project?

I currently am using the JBoss 4.0.4RC1 app server from CVS.

When you install JBoss IDE, it comes with it (it is acually part of the jBPM GPD tool)

What I would love to have is the ability to click through from an EL expression to an action listeber method or attribute in the Java code. Not really sure how hard this is....

What version of the jBPM tool do I need in order to use the page flow editor? If the answer is "the latest one in CVS" then please direct me to some info on how to get it installed.

Is it possible to design samples like a big application ? i.e. not all classes in the same package but rather a more real cutting into layered packages.

I know that is not required by use of Seam but i think it will help to organize a new 'big' project.
That may also help the developers to migrate easily from Spring to Seam.

Something like the sample of 'Hibernate in Action SECOND EDITION' (http://caveatemptor.hibernate.org/2.html). Not finished but useful to imagine a project's organization.

Hi,

I cannot find how to generate a jboss seam application from annotated entity beans? How do I do that? Using hibernate tools, it seems to be mandatory to access a database?
Is there a way to specify entity beans and then have the reverse engineering tools creating a jboss seam web application (crud for each entity)?

I tried with the nightly build of jboss ide but could not find any way to do so.
