    ESB evaluation

      G'Day everyone,

I am evaluating Jboss ESB for using it as a EAI platform. We need the EAI layer to support CORBA with Orbacus ORB, SOAP where we want to consume 3rd party webservices and also access a LDAP user store.

After a read of Jboss doco I understand that SOAP is supported by ESB so I will be able to comsume 3rd party webservices But i am not clear about the support for CORBA. Can I assess CORBA servies at all? and if yes then Can i use Orbacus and not JacORB? Also How about LDAP.

Also I want to be able to use the mediation router in ESB to route the messages based on type and content for all the above 3 types.

      Cheers guys.

At the moment we don't support IIOP as a transport in the ESB, though of course it's there in the application server. CORBA is something that we've considered, but there hasn't been enough interest for it to push it up the priority list. Maybe you want to help :-)?

As for Orbacus, I'll have to take a look at that because the last time I used Orbacus was just before OOC was acquired by IONA.

            Hi Mark,
            Thanks for the prompt reply.
I guess without CORBA we wont be using JBossESB.
In case we do decide to go ahead with it I will let you know and I will definitely put my hand up for contributing to the CORBA component of ESB.
            Thanks.

Thanks. We'll probably be looking to add CORBA support in the ESB 5 timeframe.
