JbossAS 5.0.1 / JbossESB 4.5 Compatibility ?

Hi everyone,

Are JbossAS5 and JbossESB4.5 compatible ? I need to use JBAS5 because I need the OSGi deployer, but I'de also want to use JbossESB on it. However, the JbossESB release note states that the software has been tested under JBAS4.

Is there a risk at running both together ? Do you have an estimate of the required migration effort, if needed ?

The team are working on ESB 4.x integration with AS 5.0.1 (eventually 5.1) now, so you may see more feedback soon.

That would be great ! Now the question is : What does "soon" mean ? ;-)

Initial investigations are going on now. If everything works according to plan then we'd like to have something running on AS 5.1 when it is released, or soon afterwards.

Jboss AS 5.1 was released a few days ago. Any news on the availability of JbossESB on Jboss AS 5.x ? What I'm looking for specifically is tha ability to use OSGi to deploy my ESB components.

Just to follow up on this. The AS5 deployers have now been merged into main and the wiki page updated with instructions for trying this out:

Have spotted a couple of issues when deploying the trunk version to JBossAS5.1.GA:

When I deploy some of the quickstart samples (hello_world and transform_XML2POJ) they deploy and run ok.

However, if I try to deploy the webservice_bpel sample, I get a problem on the assert-ejb3-available target - it still appears to be looking for the ejb3,deployer in the deploy rather than deployers folder.

If I then remove this dependency, to try to get further, I get compilation errors:

[javac] /.../jbossesb/trunk/product/samples/quickstarts/webservice_bpel/services/order-manager/src/com/activebpel/ordermanagement/OrderManagerBean.java:23: cannot find symbol
[javac] symbol : class ConfigurationException
[javac] location: package org.jboss.system
[javac] import org.jboss.system.ConfigurationException;

I've updated the trunk now with a few modifications to the conf/base-build.xml and also to the webservice_bpel quickstart.

Would you be able to update and give this a try?
