teiid designer and eclipse galileo

Hi,

a just downloaded and installed eclipse galileo and teiid designer 6.3 according to teiid site instructions but teiid designer perspective is not showing up on the list when I click window -> open perspective.

If I click help -> about eclipse -> installation details -> plugins I can see teiid designer 6.3.0 is installed

Is there anything else to be installed?

Hi Kelly,

Which Eclipse did you pull down, Java, EE, PDE?  Can you give me the specific version number of your eclipse?

Yes,

I followed this instructions and installed this version of eclipse  eclipse-jee-galileo-SR2-linux-gtk.tar.gz

I just pulled that version of eclipse down and installed Designer, works for me, I have the Designer perspective.  Did you restart at the end of the Designer install? (I did)  Eclipse gives you the option to continue without restarting, but I always choose to restart anyway.

Hummm.... strange.... yes I did restart and I also tried to start eclipse with --clean option, and it didn't work.

Maybe I should start over.

Installed everything again and no luck. Still can't get the perspective to show up on the list.

Odd.  Do you have anything in the Message Log view?  Paste it in here if so.  What Linux are you running (not that it should make a difference).  Java version and JRE provider?

A while back we did investigate problems reported in the EE version of Eclipse with Designer, we never did reproduce them as I recall, so nothing was done.  If you don't need the EE version, I suggest you might try the Java version of Eclipse.

Hi,

I'm using ubuntu 9.10 and sun jdk 6 update 20. The only messages shown on the console are

(eclipse:2260): GLib-WARNING **: g_set_prgname() called multiple times

(eclipse:2260): GLib-WARNING **: g_set_prgname() called multiple times

Don't think this is a problem. I will try another version of eclipse.

I really had a JAVA_HOME point to java 5, I changed it and it didn't work. I'll try another eclipse version

I must be doing something really stupid....

I just installed another eclipse version eclipse-java not eclipse-jee, removed jdk 5 from the machine, manually set java_home to java 6, and it still doesn't work
