1. Re: A potential GSoC gig for Arquillian
aslak Jun 9, 2010 11:48 AM (in response to dan.j.allen)This is really interesting!
As far as I can see, all of their APIs could be handled via the Arquillian SPIs if they wanted to keep them.
To simplify the test runs for the MyFaces Core tests they could create a MyFaces + Jetty Deployable container impl.. Should be doable in a few min..
JSFUnit integration has been committed. But as usual it comes with its set of odd bugs:
- The user has to add the faces-config.xml fil to his WebArchive to work around this bug
- A special JSFUnit patch is needed to make it work for more then one test pr server restart
Michael Schuetz is psyched about this one. He's going to start testing it as soon as he can.

Drool. I can't wait to try it out!

4. Re: A potential GSoC gig for Arquillian
jakobk Jun 9, 2010 6:24 PM (in response to dan.j.allen)Cosmin and I believe so too! However a colleague told me that there could be some resulting political issues between JBoss and Apache (e.g. regarding JSFUnit), but I don't think (or frankly I hope so for the sake of free software) that this will not be the case. But at least the license fits.
Furthermore Cosmin wrote a mail to the MyFaces dev list about using Arquillian for the GSoC project and no one really objected, after we told them that it is ASL licensed.
I would really like to use Arquillian and to help improve it to fit our needs best. Furthermore JSF developers will love it, I guess! In addition, I agree with Dan that putting our heads together will make each project better - and more future safe!
As you know, we are currently working on the API draft and the first reactions have been very positive - if you would like to add your ideas about the API, feel free to post to the MyFaces wiki page.
Thanks and I am really looking forward to a great collaboration!

aslak Jun 9, 2010 6:40 PM (in response to jakobk)Excellent news, Jacob!!
Time to show what collaboration, open source and community is all about. Let's make this _the_ project for container testing, not yet another home grown internal test suite that none knows how to use..
Welcome to the team Jacob and Cosmin!

6. Re: A potential GSoC gig for Arquillian
michaelschuetz Jun 11, 2010 3:35 AM (in response to aslak)OK, started with testing locally.
@Aslak: Got the same problems with running tests multiple times.
JSFUnitArchiveAppender implementation is really cool. What I want to do next is to extend my simple test project. Lot's of thinks I want to play with.
Excited, if Appender will fit for all usecases. Patching JSFUnit would be pretty interesting either.
Unfortunately, I do not work full time on that - so hope to get back to that this evening
BTW: What do you think about that:
Using http://code.google.com/p/arquillian/ as integration platform with real example projects. I could provide an extended JSFunit sample code for testing heavily. Hm, just thoughts..

michaelschuetz Jun 19, 2010 5:30 PM (in response to michaelschuetz)Hi,
as discussed in IRC, I
1) deleted Arquillian Google Code project
2) created mail account: arquillian.sandbox@googlemail.com (required for Github)
3) created GitHub account: http://github.com/arquillian-sandbox
4) created repos as requested (like svn structure):
- http://github.com/arquillian-sandbox/arquillian-examples
- http://github.com/arquillian-sandbox/arquillian-extensions
Will add sample content soon.
Sorry, I wanted to do this earlier but was not possible due to sickness.
Regards
Michael

dan.j.allen Jun 20, 2010 1:20 AM (in response to michaelschuetz)Thanks Michael. Just in time for the Arquillian hackfest at JUDCon!
I've also added the link to the diigo feed, so it shows up on the Arquillian project page. Once we get some stuff in there, we'll link to it in the sidebar.

michaelschuetz Jun 24, 2010 7:06 AM (in response to dan.j.allen)OK, added simple ready to use arquillian project:
http://github.com/arquillian-sandbox/arquillian-examples
Project contains both simple POJO and EJB tests as well as short how-to description.
Used Arquillian version 1.0.0.Alpha2.

Thanks Michael. I've broadcasted the link.
I've got one suggestion. To make room for other examples, you should move this example into a folder called quickstart or similar.
I'm also going to integrate your suggestions into the Arquillian archetype and we can iterate.

Thanks for the hint, Dan. I did that now.

Cool.
