1. Re: How long is it every discovering component?
pilhuhn Jan 3, 2011 7:06 AM (in response to guanshuiwang)Hi,
usually resources of category 'server' are discovered every 15mins and 'services' once a day.
Check your $AGENT/conf/agent-configuration.xml file (search for 'discovery').
If you want to modify those values, make sure to read the comments at the top of the file.

jayshaughnessy Jan 3, 2011 9:20 AM (in response to pilhuhn)Also, you can force a discovery on an agent with the agent's 'discovery' prompt command. 'discovery -f' performs a full discovery. If the agent is being run in the background this command can be performed by executing a prompt command operation on the agent resource, via the gui. Or, you can perform the operation groupwise on a compatible group of rhq agent resources.

Thanks.
Make sure the RHQ Agent resource is imported into inventory. Go to the RHQ Agent resource's Operation tab, and invoke the "Execute Prompt Command" operation.
