You can backport fix to 3.1.6.GA tag and rebuild RF from the sources, it's very easy. -

ilya_shaikovsky May 27, 2009 5:33 AM (in response to frankpolkm)Any fix for it? and Richfaces will continue support JSF1.1? If not, we have to swith to ICEfaces :(
Unfortunately this is not an argument in open source world... In the same way you could claim JSF 1.2 itself for broken compatibility with old servers.. We moving forward together with the JSF team and now main efforts targeted even more to JSF 2.0 support than to JSF 1.2. We prefer to support newest and better technologies and this seems a good approach in open source.
But in the same time we spend many time in order to find the workarounds at forums if possible. Also writing articles which shows how to work with our code base in order to patch the components according to your needs if update isn't possible.
In any way it's just your choice which framework to use. We will just continue doing our best to help if you will stay with RF. -
3. Re: Richfaces 3.1.6 <rich:modalPanel> has javascript error i
nbelaevski May 27, 2009 6:11 AM (in response to frankpolkm)BTW, I've just remembered that you can use HTTP headers to switch IE8 browser to IE7 rendering mode: http://ajaxian.com/archives/ie8-compatibility-with-x-ua-compatible. This will let your site run with 3.1.6 without problems.
