public void redirect(ActionEvent ae) throws IOException {
FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext().redirect("/Rich4/faces/index.xhtml?myParam=" + ae.getComponent().getId());
}
you can also get the context root(in my case Rich4) dynamically and in your target page you can get the parameter like this:
#{param['myParam']}
