change log4j.xml without restarting server

Hi!

I want to edit my log4j.xml without restarting my server. I'hve programmed this when i used just log4j. But now with the Seam logger i don't know how to do this.

Do somebody have some experience with this? This could be very handy when you need to edit the log level for checking a bug in production or something...

You can change log threshold in your

{JBOSS_HOME}/server/default/conf/log4j.xml

JBoss check for log configuration changes every 60 seconds (or as configured in jboss-service.xml).

So you don’t need restart to see your new log configuration.

what's the param name/value you're referring to in log4j.xml? I haven't seen anything that could check the time for the same. The threshold you're referring to holds values like debug, all, info etc for the appenders.

The “threshold” configures log verbosity level(INFO, DEBUG.....)

The “RefreshPeriod” (in jboss-service.xml) configures which interval JBoss use to check for modifications in jboss-log4j.xml.

Note that I refer to jboss-log4j.xml, not your application specific log4j.xml file.
