Seam 2.2.0GA + Glassfish V2.1.1 + Seam Examples = don't work! Please, I need some help.

|Hello, I followed several guides to run seam on glassfish, and could only run the JPA example (without EAR - EJBs). Example jee5/booking not run in glassfish! I created a project using seam-gen, did all the modifications suggested in the following guides, but in the end, I get only a 503 error in the browser when I try to access http://localhost:8080/any_project_or_example.

In the server.log the only exceptions that are thrown indicate:
com.sun.enterprise.deployment.backend.IASDeploymentException: Could not resolve a persistence unit corresponding to the persistence-unit-ref-name
This is one of the exceptions thrown..

I know it's annoying this type of request, but could someone give me an example (project) running on jboss seam 2.1.2.GA or 2.2.0.GA ON GLASSFISH V2, with all *. xml and *.java files, and a guide to more details on how to create a project with seam-gen to run on glassfish? I will import the project in Eclipse Ganymede 3.4, but that I already know how. I would be really grateful for any help, Please, share the knowledge!

try the above link. You need to have Ant to build the application.

That worked for me, I'm using Seam 2.1 I don't think you will have any problems.

It's kinda annoying to make it run Seam on glassfish for the first time... at least it was to me.

You have to start the Glassfish embedded database before running the example.

Man, I followed this chapter of the documentation, and even then the examples do not work on glassfish! In JBoss 5 it works perfectly!

Work PC: Windows XP SP2 + 6 + java 2.1 + glassfish seam 2.2.0.GA
Home PC: linux amd64 + java 6 + glassfish 2.1

Have you tried create some project using seam-gen and use generated ant script to playing seam with glassfish?

It works for me. Sorry can't help you using seam examples.

Yes! I tried a lot of times. Always with a seam gen generated project! Also examples.

This is my step, which I do it at this morning with seam 2.2.0 GA:

1. Create your own project using seam-gen


2. Create some simple application and test to JBoss AS whether your logic is correct.


3. Undeploy/unexplode your project from JBoss, then shutdown JBoss AS.


4. Use command gf-explode to deploy your project to glassfish, then restart (I don't know exactly whether we can implements hot-deploy on glassfish).


5. Make sure that your datasource and your application deployed successfully. You can see it at Glassfish Admin Console. Because my project is a WAR project, I can found my deployed project in Web Applications tree.


6. In case that these step are failed, please remove your application and deploy using Admin Console and change the datasource manually.

Please be careful when you execute point 4, because, it is possible some step like:

• gf-explode-seam


• gf-deploy-datasource

doesn't execute successfully. Check your glassfish log and see if some error happened. In my case, I get some error about classes/jar dependency, so Im copying these class manually to directory:

<gf-install>/<gf-domain>/lib/ext

• commons-collections.jar


• commons-logging.jar


• concurrent.jar


• dom4j.jar


• ejb3-persistence.jar


• hibernate3.jar


• hibernate-annotations.jar


• hibernate-entitymanager.jar

• jboss-common-client.jar


• log4j.jar


• mysql-driver-5.1.5.jar

Copying these lib appropriately, depends on the error log.
