1. Re: useJBossWebLoader
peterj May 13, 2009 4:38 PM (in response to angusm)Setting UseJBossWebLoader to true should be sufficient. I just now tried it with 4.2.3, and it works there. In 5.0.1 and 5.1.0.CR1, it does not work.
This was fairly easy to test by using target 01 of the ch03 source for the book.
Deployment was one of those "fun" areas while watching 5.0.0 being developed - what bugs it exhibited changed with every release. If I recall correctly, for the betas there was no class scoping whatsoever. In other words, what you are attempting to do worked in all of the betas without having to set UseJBossWebLoader to true. I cannot recall if it was CR1 or CR2 that finally fixed the scoping. Apparently it was fixed too well and UseJBossWebLoader is ignored, or does not work as advertised in the war-deployers-jboss-beans.xml file. -

Peter, can you create a JIRA about this and attach your 01/ch03 stuff there? -

I included a link to the book's source code. -

Can you add the binaries as well? :-)
As you 110% have them on your machine,
where it would take me forever to build them.
It's been a while since I did anything else then MC. ;-) -
5. Re: useJBossWebLoader
peterj May 13, 2009 6:13 PM (in response to angusm)LOL. OK, I attached a zip file that you can unpack into the server/default (or similar) directory. The files are compiled with JDK 6.
But the source should be simple to build - modify an entry or two in a properties file and then run the ant script - it does everything for you, even creating a server config. After that, just start the app server. The directions in the index.html file should be fairly easy to follow. Besides, the index.html file gives all of the information on what to do after building the 01 target. -

alesj May 14, 2009 11:39 AM (in response to angusm)Peter, it looks like you'll have to update your book's deployment ch again. :-)
See Adrian's resolution of JBAS-6914, which I already committed to 5.x branch.
Where do our docs mention this feature, so it gets proper update as well? -
7. Re: useJBossWebLoader
peterj May 15, 2009 5:00 PM (in response to angusm)Do Adrian's comments also apply to the java2ClassLoadingCompliance property? Based on what he said, I think the answer is yes, but I thought I would at least verify this.

What's there to see or what's the issue?
Afaics, the wiki nicely explains what you need to do in order to get the old useJBossWebLoader feature.
