lightguard Sep 28, 2009 3:30 PM (in response to timfox)Using JDK6 on Mac for my little test project. What will JBoss AS be based on? HornetQ is going to be the default Messaging implementation in AS5.2 or at the very least AS6 is it not?

bvangrunsven Sep 28, 2009 3:42 PM (in response to timfox)I'm going to have to go with a big JDK 6 vote here. So big it should count as two votes. ;-)

For sure on 6.0. We are not sure yet on AS 5.2 as there is some work to be done at the AS testsuite before we can replace it. -

My vote then (unless HornetQ becomes default for AS 5.2) would be JDK6. I can't see AS 6 baselining on JDK5. -

Even when used with AS 5, you can/should use a JDK 6 as runtime. -

leosbitto Sep 29, 2009 4:50 AM (in response to timfox)Please note that Sun is still going to support JDK 5 for paying customers for many years under the program "Java SE for Business". I think that JDK 5 should be supported by HornetQ at least on the client side - maybe with a different set of client libraries?

Yes, that is another option.
We could set enforce code compatibility at the Java 5 level on the client side libraries, but set it to Java 6 for the server. -

My understanding is that JBAS/Branch_5_X is already JDK 1.6 only:

Do you mean baseline on 6 as in hornetq will not run on JDK5 anymore or do you mean support JDK6 as in run on both JDK5 and 6?
I think support for JDK6 is a must in fact support for JDK7 is also important....
sorry for the rant!!!!
