Regarding AFNetworking, it's a great library. It's basically a thin-wrapper for the underlying http libraries of IOS. I really liked the _blocks approach for network callbacks so the request-response-update UI is encapsulated in one-go. For my first app I used ASIHTTPRequest (another popular library) but there were some rumours of project abandoning and because I didn't like the delegate approach for callbacks, I decided to switch.
