JBREM000200: Remote connection failed: java.io.IOException: Received an invalid message length of 1347375956

    bauke

I downloaded and unzipped the evaluation version of JBoss EAP 6.0.0.GA (AS 7.1.2.Final-redhat-1) and integrated it in Eclipse Indigo SR2 with JBossAS Tools 2.3.0 Final on a Windows 7 x64 platform. When I start it and it's finished starting, then I receive a JBREM000200 error message in the log every second:

13:31:54,540 ERROR [org.jboss.remoting.remote.connection] (Remoting "workstation:MANAGEMENT" read-1) JBREM000200: Remote connection failed: java.io.IOException: Received an invalid message length of 1347375956

      etc...

The same happens when I start in command console using standalone.bat, so this excludes Eclipse and JBossAS tools.

How is this caused and how can I solve it?

How do you start the server?

It looks like as an network issue to me.

Also what connection fail? Is it direct after startup?

So in case of standalone the server should not try to connect to another server or domain.

In Eclipse, just by rightclick server and choosing "Start", or by selecting the server and pressing the green arrow in toolbar.

In command console, just by executing standalone.bat.

Yes, this appears directly after startup. I didn't touch/change any configuration. Just freshly unzipped and immediately started.

could you attach the server.log and boot.log?

                  Hi,

07:54:29,160 ERROR [org.jboss.remoting.remote.connection] (Remoting "localhost:MANAGEMENT" read-1) JBREM000200: Remote connection failed: java.io.IOException: Received an invalid message length of 1195725856

Above kind of ERRORs can be seen in the output / console of JBossAS7 when you try to access the Management Port (9999) of JBoss using a different protocol than the expected one like.... Try to start your JBoss and then Open a browser and try accessing : ( Just for Example)

http://jbossHost:9999/          ---->  this is actually wrong because you are sending http request to non http port 9999

                  Or

                      http://jbossHost:4447/

                  Or

                      telnet   jbossHost    9999

So you need to check that at your end is there any process running which is sending  a wrong signal / message to these ports or to a Remoting related port

As both are only listening on localhost it should be a process of this machine.

This makes completely sense. A different application is apparently constantly "pinging" this port on localhost.

I started up JBoss EAP once again and I walked through all possibly suspicious running processes in the task manager and killed them one by one. Once I killed HD-Agent.exe of Bluestacks (Android emulator for PC) in the process list, the error logs stopped immediately. Indeed, it was connecting port 9999 all the time!

Thank you for making me to understand the concrete problem and leading me to the solution, Jay Kumar.

Perfect, the HD-Agent was to be stopped and the log rolling stopped.

But does that not mean a load on the server of logging, it can simply drop the message if that does not match.

                        regards,

                        Mohan

It only ignores the messages which it doesn't recognize

Just for the sake of completeness, I have the same issue on my Mac.

127.0.0.1:9999 is used by Kaspersky AV ...

So you get 2 issues for the price of one

                            a) JBoss does not start untill Kaspersky is turned off for a couple of minute so all sockets have the time to be recycled & terminated.

                            b) Many applications try to contact KAspersky on that port to have their input filtered (or something like that).

                            Changing the ports :

                            • management-http from 9990 to 8990
                            • management-https from 9443 to 8443
                            • management-native from 9999 to 8999

I hope it can help someone.

and BTW : lsof is a real plight on Mac OS-X

Yes... even my case Bluestacks was that culprit.

                              Many thanks,

                                  I use Bluestacks too.

I'm looking for ideas on how to identify the application sending the data to the port.  i have a developer on my team who gets this error.  he's using win 8 or 7, we've tried wireshark and RawCap, but can't seem to see the traffic origin.  we modified standalone-full.xml to use different ports as a temporary work around, but would like to know how to identify the origin of the issue.

thoughts? how can i tell what's sending the data to the port?
