I have encountered the same exception on two computers scanning multiple EAR files.

Looks like there is a file handle still open to the archive. Windows doesn't like that at all.

You are correct. tattletale has not closed it. I put a breakpoint @ Extractor.java line 178. Process Explorer reports that javaw.exe (eclipse) has it open.

Greetings, I think i may found where is the problem:

When the application start extraction an EAR file, its extracts all file to a temp directory. Then it tries to do the same with the WAR file, but this file is already exist in the temp directory so it cant create a folder with the same name.

I make a simple work-around to get it working but the extraction implementation should be reviewed:

In class: org.jboss.tattletale.analyzers.Extractor
line: 59

change:
target = new File(fileName);
to:
target = new File(fileName+".extracted");

It likely needs to be solved up level higher - e.g. the scanners. They need to keep track of their artifacts. Adding a postfix to certain cases sounds correct though
