Expose mod_cluster loadbalance factor to hardware loadbalancer

Greetings all,

For a customer we are implementing loadbalancing over JBoss instances using a hardware loadbalancer - using mod_cluster as a loadbalancer is (unfortunately) not an option due to standarization within the enterprise using hardware loadbalancers.

Still I try to leverage from the server-side mod_proxy implementation; would it be possible to access the so called loadbalance factor produced by the DynamicLoadBalanceFactorProvider so we could provide this information to the hardware loadbalancer (through a health-check servlet for instance)?

Any ideas?

I wrote and published the article Using a hardware load balancer in combination with mod_cluster server-side load metrics which explains how I managed to extract the loadbalance factor and expose it to the hardware loadbalancer.
