it does not look like it is compatible with jboss tools 4.. it gives an error saying something like "not all constraints are met for 2.3"..

I supposed you caught this from JBTools wizard project settings. You need to figure out what is wrong - the wizard gives you such information. And just to be clear that is a configuration issue in JBTools.

correct.. i can add 2.3 to "seam" related settings of the tools but i can't create a new project using it.. the wizard doesn't really give any more info than that.. i went back to 2.2 for the time being..

I tried to create new Seam Web Project in JBoss Developer Studio 6, which is the bundle of all JBoss Tools 4 plugins and Eclipse itself and it works like charm. I would recommend to create a topic on JBoss Tools Forum (https://community.jboss.org/en/tools) and get a help from there ;-)

This is really good. I was having problems moving Seam 2.2 into JBoss AS 7 and also that would still be using JEE stuff like JSF 1.2 and also Hibernate validators. Seam 3 is still not fully ready with tooling I would say.

Seam 2.3 perfectly fills the gap and I am particularly happy that 2.3 has Maven, JSF 2, EJB 3.1, Bean Validation and all this with seam-gen! and it is targeted at AS 7!

                Perfect!!

                Thanks!

btw, has the seam forums been migrated/integrated with JBoss forum?
