Offer to pay for services related to move from JBoss 4.2.2 EJB 2.1 to JBoss AS 7.1.1 EJB 3.1

    rdiddly

It would seem that there are a lot of questions being posted here and, for whatever reason, very few answers. I am interested in finding a resource to help me with my project. I need advice and the sooner I can get it, the better off I'll be. I'm a lone developer, working for my own company with an app deployed to JBoss 4.2.2 about 10 years ago, looking to upgrade the platform to the latest JBoss, i.e., 7.1.1. The changes are pretty big and so is the application. I have spent a week trying to get a very small subset to work and have posted numerous questions on these forums and gotten no answers. Is anyone interested in offering some kind of question/answer support for a fee to one such as myself? I would be happy to pay for some help, just pointers really, via a PayPal account perhaps.

      Please respond if interested.

      Richard

          Hey Richard,

that depends on what you pay for

From a Red Hat perspective you can use a Developer subscription which does not cost a lot.

AFAIK you can use the Knowledgebase and open support cases (you might use EAP6 to migrate).

Also you can use the community to get help, but here you might find no answer or not as fast as you wish.

A consultant might also a possibility but from what I understand this is not covered by your budget.

You might have a look to this page https://www.redhat.com/support/.

If you are interested you can call a Red Hat sales representative in your area for more details

I've seen your name in many answers to questions on the Forum. I don't know what my budgets is, but I've been spinning my wheels for 3 days just trying to get the basics to work and that's not cheap. I might very well be able to afford a consultant, as long as the price isn't $200/hr. I need minimal assistance. Are you not available to answer some questions on a pay-per-question basis? You seem to have a fair amount of knowledge/experience. I contacted Red Hat Sales via their website. Waiting for an answer. Forums in general are pretty slow and I never know if the reason I didn't get an answer was:

            1) The question was too stupid to deserve an anwer

            2) There wasn't enough information in the question to allow for an answer

            3) No one is reading the forum who has the answers

What's your status? Do you want to give it a whirl? I'm getting really frustrated.

One problem is that you might have questions in different areas where I'm not able to answer.

I suppose that a developer subscription might fit your needs if you have some questions.

And a consultant might useful for the initial start.

As I said a contact to Red Hat depends on your location.
