tsegismont Jul 12, 2013 11:25 AM (in response to dwaller09)Anything in the server logs? Last time I saw something like this it was because a component of RHQ server could not start. I had plenty of errors in the logs.

dwaller09 Jul 12, 2013 12:24 PM (in response to tsegismont)Sorry but I am not sure which log to look through.
I do know that when I poplated the database there was an error about cassandra.

john.sanda Jul 12, 2013 12:28 PM (in response to dwaller09)Dave,
How did you install RHQ? Did you directly run rhq-installer.sh, or did you us rhqctl? As for the logs, look in <rhq-basedir>/logs/server.log.

dwaller09 Jul 12, 2013 12:44 PM (in response to john.sanda)I tried to follow the documentation as carefully as I could but ended up having to do a few additional steps to get the software to install.
I ran the installer shell script.
Should I just remove the install and the DB and start over?
It seems like there is a component that is missing.

I assume you mean rhqctl but perhaps you mean rhq-installer.sh (since that was the previous versions did it).
4.8 Release Notes:
https://docs.jboss.org/author/display/RHQ/Release+Notes+4.8.0
say in the top big red box, "Even if you are familiar with installing earlier versions of RHQ, be sure to see Installing the Server for updated installation and upgrade instructions. Specifically, you are now required to use the rhqctl Control Script to install (and start) the RHQ server components."
So I would make sure you look at those links and follow those directions, in case you were following the old 4.7 instructions, which were very different.

dwaller09 Jul 12, 2013 2:30 PM (in response to mazz)Most Excelent! Thanks I have te software running correctly now.
I was running the installer the old way. I think that I was following an old install doc.
Thank you for your patience
