Also, we just noticed that you apparently can't run integration designer on a 64-bit Linux system. Is this really the case?
The tool is packaged as an Eclipse 'product' and as such has a number of platform specific pieces (the executable, launcher, SWT etc). We build and test against 32bit Windows and 32bit Linux. The guts of the installation, that is the plug-ins and features that provide the function of the editors, wizards, etc, are of course not platform-specific and can be dropped into an existing installation of Eclipse for your platform and should work. This is a little fiddly and your mileage may vary.
With p2, it's theoretically possible to point an instance of Eclipse to another instance of Eclipse and have it use the target as a p2 update site. I haven't done this for FID, but I'll take a look at it to see if we can put together a HOWTO.
