    JBoss Development Studio & EAP

    poonamkadu

      Hi ,

I have registered and downloaded 'jbdevstudio-product-eap-universal-7.1.1.GA-v20140314-2145-B688' from JBoss org site.

After installing JBDS ...I installed Jboss Integration and Business rules plug inswhich has BPEL and BPMN developemnet support from JBoss Central.

Also I have a EAP configured and running in JBDS.

This tool says it has  'GNU LESSER GENERAL PUBLIC LICENSE'

Also when i downloaded the tool ..below message was shown on the site :

"Thank you for downloading JBoss Developer Studio!

Problems with the download? Please use this direct link.

This download is available under the JBoss Developer Program which you joined on October 17, 2014. View the terms and conditions. Your subscription to the JBoss Developer Program ends in 354 days ."

Does this mean that I will have to purchase the subscription after 354 days..

Yes, if you want support you will need to purchase a subscription. However, the tooling will continue to work well after the first year.

it means in 354 days you need to agree to the T&C's again if you want to download a new version.

I had read that the license applies to the runtimes ..in this case the EAP server which came along with complete tool installer.
So if I do not want to purchase the subscription ...will i Be able to use the exiting JBDS (with existing BPEL support downloaded from Jboss Central) + RiftSAW Server for developement and production purposes.

Actually ..Max and Nick ...I am exploring various options to setup developement and production environment for JBoss BPEL projects which would require minimum or no purchase of subscriptions.

              Thanks

Yes, the license applies to the product runtimes, not to any community source/binaries you download.

The tools in eclipse/devstudio can be used freely for development - they are not considered related to production.

If you only use the community runtimes then you can use that for what you want but those will not be able to get support for via subscription, nor will you get patches/updates etc. Thus as long as you are aware of those limits/constraints and are okey with that then that is all up to you
