BPM - Models and Decisions - Why should it be necessary to think like a java developer?

I'm fairly new to Business Process Modeling and Automation.  Though I have developed software for 3 decades, I have enjoyed performing various non-technical roles in the business.  Currently, I would like to create business process models complete with logical data records relevant to process decisions and the capture of process progress.  I understand that automated actions will usually require coding.  I do not understand why tools like Red Hat BPM Suite seem to want to conceive of the modeling in the context of java development.  We have had CAD/CAM systems for years, and I don't recall that those systems imposed a Fortran or C programming context on the user.  Please comment.

This is my personal opinion only, not Red Hat vision or anything like that.

I do believe that the fact that we come from a JBoss (Java Middleware) company affects those decisions. Most of the tools that are provided in the community were started from the Java Developer perspective and regarding the constant effort to create more higher level abstractions we are still inside a Java community. One of the important things about BPM is that you can extend and customise every little details in your specific implementation and that's done unfortunately in Java because it is the language used to build the platform.
