Can not build RichFaces Showcase examples - version missing in dependencies

Hi,

I have just checked out the RichFaces Showcase from http://anonsvn.jboss.org/repos/richfaces/trunk/examples/, then I followed the instructions.

When I cd to richfaces-showcase or to core-demo and execute

maven clean package

I get this error:

[ERROR] The build could not read 1 project -> [Help 1]

[ERROR]  

[ERROR]   The project org.richfaces.examples:core-demo:4.1.0-SNAPSHOT (~/projects/RichFaces_ShowCase/examples/core-demo/pom.xml) has 1 error

[ERROR]     'dependencies.dependency.version' for javax.servlet:jstl:jar is missing. @ line 61, column 21

I'm using Apache Maven 3.2.5 on Arch Linux (64 bit).

Any ideas ?

Hi,

any particular reason for using the SVN repo? It's not maintained and I'm not sure what state it is in. That said the version is maintained in BOM, which is referenced from the examples-parent, maven should find it.

Well ... only because I found it in How to work with RichFaces 4.x examples sources. If that wiki page is outdated, it may be a good idea to edit it.

What do I have to do to get the showcase project the better way ? I'm a newbie to maven ...

Well the problem is that the version in trunk is snapshot, and maven is kind of weird when it comes to snapshots. (richfaces - Revision 23293: /tags/4.0.0.20110319-Final/examples contains a final version).

Anyway, our current code is on GitHub, your best option is to build the entire project (mvn clean install) and then check the showcase (under examples/showcase).

When I try to

git clone [e-mail]:richfaces/richfaces.git

I get the error:

Cloning into 'richfaces'...

Warning: Permanently added the RSA host key for IP address '192.30.252.130' to the list of known hosts.

Permission denied (publickey).

fatal: Could not read from remote repository.

Please make sure you have the correct access rights

and the repository exists.

I have removed my ~/.gitconfig and my ~/.ssh/id* files. I am not sure why it tries to do public key authentication ...

If you're cloning over SSH you have to have a key associated with your GitHub account, otherwise just clone over HTTPS: "git clone https://github.com/richfaces/richfaces.git" (click on HTTPS where it says "You can clone with HTTPS, SSH, or Subversion.")
