JBDS 10.4.0.GA - Embedded Forge console very slow

Hi,

I'm using JBDS 10.4.0.GA with Forge embedded console. In the Window->Show View menu I'm selecting Other->Forge Console and the Forge console window displays. Then I click on the Icon labeled "Start 3.6.1.Final embedded" (the green arrow) and a progression bar showing the console starting is displayed. It takes a while before it starts. Now, once started, it displays the prompt "[workspace10]$" and then I'm typing the "pwd" command. It takes several minutes before getting the result of the command and the processor comes to 40%.

I used to use the Forge console with previous releases, for example 10.0.0.GA and didn't notice any problem. Is that a regression ?

That is weird. Try removing your ~/.forge directory, maybe a 3rd party

addon is causing this?

Hi, I removed .forge directory but the same behaviour have been observed. What else could I try ?

Do you see any errors in the ~/.forge/log/forge.log file? What OS are you in? Can you try with a console-based version of Forge by downloading the latest version in http://forge.jboss.org/download?

Hi, there is no any forge.log file. And yes, using the console-based version works as expected. So, this issue would it be related to the version embedded in JBDS (3.6.1.Final) or to the JBDS itself ?

It's hard to tell without any stacktrace. Do you see any error in the error log view?

Can you give it a shot with a plain Eclipse installation with the JBoss Tools plugin installed? Use the nightly build  (as it contains Forge 3.7.1.Final) in: http://tools.jboss.org/downloads/jbosstools/oxygen/4.5.x.Nightly.html

Hi, using the console-based 3.7.1.Final seems to have other issues. For example:

scaffold-generate --provider Faces --page-template --targets fr.simplex_software.apps.project_management.Project

***INFO*** Required inputs not satisfied, entering interactive mode

? Facelet Template (The Facelets template file to be used in the generated facelets.):

***ERROR*** Targets must be specified.

Targets were specified but they dont seem to have been taken.

Can you remove the --page-template parameter and try again?
