1. Re: Unable to establish jdbc connection to server "jdbc:teiid:ping@mm
rareddy Oct 3, 2017 1:38 PM (in response to shiloh.jordan)teiid-security-user.properties was a very old version of Teiid. in the later versions, there is script file called "add-user.bat or add-user.sh" using which you can add administrative user and application user. You would need both. So try that. Also, in the JBDS, depending upon you installed JDV or Teiid, you need to start little the server little differently.
If you downloaded Teiid, this needs to be started like
./standalone.sh -c standalone-teiid.xml
if you are starting the server from inside the JBDS, even there you need to set the configuration to "standalone-teiid.xml" instead of the default "standalone.xml" file. You will find this in one of the server connection wizard boxes. Once you start correctly then use the above credentials in the connection then you should succeed.

shiloh.jordan Oct 3, 2017 2:06 PM (in response to rareddy)Hi Ramesh,
I have added an application and mgmt user using the script. I see in my application-users.properties file, there is an entry for my new application user. I also see my new entry for my mgmt user in the mgmt-user.properties file.
If you see below, I already have standalone-teiid.xml set as my configuration file.
Also, when I start the server from the command-line, I am using the standalone.sh -c=standalone-teiid.xml
I am using the credentials that I have created, and I am still getting the error. Any more suggestions?

3. Re: Unable to establish jdbc connection to server "jdbc:teiid:ping@mm
rareddy Oct 3, 2017 3:44 PM (in response to shiloh.jordan)Are you starting the server from JBDS or from a terminal window? Depending on how you started, the server connection is different. If starting from JBDS the above is correct, if started on a terminal window then in JBDS it needs to be connected "remote" server option. So, in this case it does not start but will just connect to it.

shiloh.jordan Oct 3, 2017 4:32 PM (in response to rareddy)Hi Ramesh,
Thank you I am trying this now.
I am going to start my WildFly Application Server from the terminal.
I have a question about starting the server from command line- I open a command-line window from the <jbds-intall>/bin (in my case, it would be C:/Program Files/teiid-9.0.6/bin)
- I enter standalone.sh -c=standalone-teiid.xml OR standalone.sh -c standalone-teiid.xml
- A text file pops up (standalone.sh)
Why does this file come up? How do I know if the server has started or not?
Thanks,
Shiloh -

shiloh.jordan Oct 3, 2017 5:44 PM (in response to rareddy)Hi Ramesh,
I am having trouble with setting up my remote connection.
- Do I start the application server externally (through command line) before adding server in Designer? or am I supposed to start the server externally after I have added it in Designer?
- When it asks for UserId and password for SSH connection, why does password say optional? Am I supposed to use the userid and password for mgmt or application user?
- When it asks for the "Remote Server Home", and I click on "Browse...", it does not allow me to expand down to where my jbds install is located. why?
Thanks,
Shiloh -

shiloh.jordan Oct 6, 2017 1:47 PM (in response to rareddy)Had to change version number of PREVIEW vdb.xml from 1.0 to 1
This allowed a successfully JDBC connection.
