Archtype's for custom translator & connector

I'm in the process of creating archetype's for a translator and connector.

I have the translator tested locally, with the connector still to do.

However, this being the first one I've ever created, wondering, first, if and where Teiid would like these kept? Should another project (i.e., Teiid-archtypes) be created or just add them as a subproject to the primary Teiid project?

Any suggestions about design? I'm following the Maven apache project directions and using archetype 2.0 specification.

And once these are created, the goal is to create a Quick Start for how-to create custom translator / connector development, with a video to follow (at least thats the goal).

Van,

Having project source on the Teiid organisation on GitHub is fine. Once it is built it needs to uploaded into JBoss Maven repo. A document showing the usage, goals would be suffice. i do not think a video is necessary.

Created a new teiid-tools repository, which contains projects for creating archetypes for generating projects for a translator and a connector.

To pulls the source: teiid/teiid-tools · GitHub

I'm sure there's more features/options that can be added to this, but this get the ball rolling with the ability to generate an initial translator/connector project for developing something new.

Comments/suggestions welcomed.

Now that the archetype projects are available, would it good to remove the templates from the teiid project? I see several benefits to their removal:

- remove the duplication of code (template) to maintain
- have one way of recommending to starting translator / connector development
- don't need to fix the teiid connector-template, because the imports are not correct

Should I log a jira to remove the connector template? And also update documentation?
